Product Description

Our basic innerspring crib mattress starts with 260 elliptical coils for a more even support for babies and toddlers. (Most crib mattresses have only 180 coils.) The coils are treated with tung oil and beeswax for an all natural coating (no toxic oils or chemicals are used.) The coils are then wrapped in quilted organic cotton. Next organic cotton batting is followed by a thick layer of organic wool. The organic wool is so important because it in itself is a natural flame retardant and stands up to all the regulations of the Consumer Product Safety Commission without the use of one single chemical. Not even minute traces of chemical can be found on our wool because it is carded on a private machine that is only used for organic wool. Then the mattress is topped with premium European organic cotton fabric and quilted to organic cotton mattress ticking to prevent shifting. The sides are covered in organic wool to prevent moisture from getting into the sides and ruining the mattress as can happen with other mattresses. This makes a resilient crib mattress that is breathable, safe, and healthy for your baby.

Meets all the standards of the Consumer Product Safety Commission

When you’re expecting a baby and you’re loading up on infant paraphernalia a crib mattress is one of the items that you should prioritize in buying as this simple and yet important furniture is where your baby will spend most of his or her time.  The best type that you can buy is the organic crib mattress.  These items are readily available in stores that sell baby goods and accessories. But the perfect recommendation among mattress brands is the Organic Innerspring Crib Mattress.

This organic crib mattress brand is safe and healthy for babies.  It is also very durable and is simply made to last.  The organic characteristics and features of this mattress are noticeable in each material used.  For one, the coils used in this mattress are made of special organic beeswax. The mattresses from Organic Innerspring Crib Mattress are coated with a non-toxic substance before they are wrapped in quilted organic cotton.  Note, though, that the 260coils used in Organic Innerspring Crib Mattress are far more than 180 coils found in typical crib mattresses.

Organic wool is also used in the brand’s organic crib mattress product line.  The great thing about Organic Innerspring Crib Mattress products is that they have passed a set of consumer safety standards.  Lastly, this organic crib mattress’ final wrapping is made of European organic cotton which performs well in giving babies utmost comfort.  This is definitely the perfect option for your baby’s crib mattress.

Safer for your baby to sleep on because it is chemical and toxin free. This is the purest innerspring crib mattress you can find with no chemicals or synthetic blends whatsoever. The batting and filling in a traditional crib mattress is treated with elements to make it fire resistant. Those very chemicals that are added as a safety measure are actually hurting our babies instead. These chemicals seep through the vinyl cover and can be absorbed into your baby's body and breathed into his or her respiratory system. This can cause breathing problems, skin irritations and rashes, allergic reactions, and the most terrible of all, even SIDS.

Combining chemicals with a vinyl covering makes the danger even more compounded. In a study using mice, once the mice were put on the vinyl covering, they were shown to have a twenty six percent reduction in air flow. We believe that these factors combined have been responsible for many crib deaths. Think about the "Back to Sleep" Campaign that has significantly reduced the occurrence of SIDS. SIDS cases went from 5,000 a year to 3,000 a year just using this one vital piece of advice. What if the reason that crib deaths were cut down is because the baby's face was being turned away from directly breathing in those chemical off-gasses that their faces were pointed at? What if the other 3,000 cases of SIDS still occurring are because the chemicals are still being absorbed by the babies bodies and indirectly breathed into their respiratory systems. Of course, SIDS is not the only concern, though it is the main one. There are still worries with other types of sickness brought on by allergic reactions. The pure natural material used in this mattress will help to prevent all of these issues and aid in keeping your baby safe and well.

Here is a short list of the types of elements that are usually added to other infant mattresses:

Formaldehyde - A colorless flammable gas. Low levels can set off inflammation of eyes, nose, throat & skin.

Antimony- A silvery white metal found in the earth's crust. Can irritate eyes and lungs, cause heart and lung problems, stomach pain, diarrhea, vomiting and stomach ulcers.

Arsenic -A naturally occurring element found on our planet's crust. Exposure to lower levels for a long time can cause a discoloration of the skin and the appearance of small corns or warts.

Cadmium - A natural element in the crust of the planet. Cadmium damages the lungs, can set off kidney disease, and may irritate the digestive tract.

PBDE's - Lower brominated PBDE's can affect the hormone levels in thyroid glands. Selected concentrations can be connected to reproductive and neurological risks.

Keep in mind that primarily infants will be susceptible to the fumes from these irritants. People with allergies can be affected by TRACES of the allergen. (There is no need to worry that your baby could possibly be allergic to wool. Regularly when a person reacts to wool, the cause is the chemicals that are added to wool that they are reacting to. Natural wool is non-allergenic.) We have to stop and reflect how these harmful chemicals can affect our infants.
