Similar to our organic innerspring mattress, this version comes with extra edge support clips on the inside of the mattress frame to prevent the sides from caving in when a toddler jumps on it. It still starts with the same 260 elliptical coils as the regular innerspring, which provides even and superior support in contrast to the 180 coil crib mattresses that are usually found on the market. The coils are wrapped in quilted organic cotton. Next organic cotton batting is followed by a thick layer of organic wool. The organic wool is so important because it in itself is a natural flame retardant and stands up to all the regulations of the Consumer Product Safety Commission without the use of one single chemical. Not even minute traces of compound can be found on our wool for the reason that it is carded on a private machine that is only used for organic wool. Then the mattress is topped with premium European organic cotton fabric and quilted to organic cotton mattress ticking to prevent shifting. The batting and filling in a regular crib mattress is treated with additives to make it fire resistant. Those very chemicals that are added as a safety measure are actually hurting our babies instead. These chemicals seep through the vinyl cover and can be absorbed into your baby's body and breathed into his or her respiratory system.
