Ginny then obtained a copy of the lab report from the same competitor that was done by Associated Labs. Pure Rest & Ecobaby's rubber (the products this website carries) was tested at Associated Labs as well. The Pure Rest/Ecobaby rubber tested down as far as Associated Labs could test and came out clean. The competitor was only able to test down to a certain point, which was 500 times higher than Pure Rest and Ecobaby's results. This is an indication that they purposely ordered weak testing.
If you're buying an organic product, you want it to be what it says it is. Make sure to get certifications and ask questions if you need more information or don't understand the results. Certification information is available on the left hand column of our website provided by Ecobaby. If you have any further questions, we would be happy to answer those as well.
Did You Hear About The McDonald's Recall?
McDonalds is recalling 12 million drinking glasses due to the fact that the paint on the glasses contains traces of cadmium. Cadmium is one of those chemicals used in some traditional crib mattresses. McDonald's is willing to buy back their Shrek Forever After glasses at $3, a little more than what they charged for the glasses, even though the Consumer Product Safety Commission reportedly said that the risk of danger to kids from the paint was "low". LOW risk? How about NO risk. That's what McDonald's thinks, and they want to preserve their reputation with families.
There have also been three recalls this year in children's jewelry products for the same reason....containing cadmium. The latest happened in January when Wal-Mart recalled 55,000 children's necklaces.
Think about how often our children sleep on their mattresses. It's much longer than they spend wearing necklaces or drinking from cups. Get the facts, get the test results, and don't buy anything that does not have test results and certificates provided.
What Are The Dangers Of Cadmium?
Cadmium can adversely affect humans in many ways. Cadmium can be taken in the body from inhalation, through skin absorption, and through ingestion. The kidneys are known as the "target" organ for cadmium, and cadmium can accumulate in the kidneys for twenty to thirty years. The element has also been proven to cause respiratory problems and has been directly linked to bone disease. Having this element in baby mattresses in dangerous and completely unnecessary.
